Especially in the beginning of the story, there were no complicated combos or quick-play spells, so we could say that this gave us a glimpse of the simple and essential role of trap cards, which is to lure the opponent into attacking and then destroy them.
While it is generally believed to be used by Yami Yugi and Muto Yugi, it has also been used by Kyoko Masaki, Rebecca Hopkins, Leon Wilson, and the nefarious Dark Malik.
